The Springfield Family YMCA has policies in place for the benefit and welfare of our members, guests and our organization. All policies are approved by the Springfield Family YMCA Board of Directors.
Unless posted otherwise, children seven years of age and older may use the Y facilities without adult supervision. However, children 12 years of age and under must have a parent or guardian on the Y premises.
Children nine years of age and older may use Y swimming pools without adult supervision. A parent or guardian must be present in the pool at all times with children six years and younger. A parent or guardian must be in the pool area for children ages seven and eight.
The Y will permit children ages 18 and older to be considered the “supervising” guardian for their sibling(s) under the age of 13 when using the Y facilities.
Children under the age of 15 are not permitted in the cardio, group exercise or strength training rooms. An exception will be made for youth ages 12 - 14 who complete a youth orientation. Once this requirement has been met, youth may workout. Youth will be required to show proof of orientation completion. Youth under the age of 15, without orientation cards, will be asked to leave the area.
Children 14 years of age and older may use the racquetball courts without adult supervision.
Adult Locker Rooms
The Adult locker rooms are designated for individuals 18 years of age and older.
CELL PHONE USAGE
Cell phones are only permitted in designated areas of the YMCA facility. Cell phone use in locker room areas is prohibited.
CHECK-IN/SCANNING YOUR CARD
You will be required to present your member identification card each time you visit the YMCA. The Welcome Center staff will scan your card.
CODE OF CONDUCT
At the Y, we expect staff, members and guest to behave in accordance with our mission and values at all times, respecting the rights and dignity of others. We demonstrate Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility by:
- Resolving conflicts in a respectful, honest and caring manner. Never resort to physical contact or threatening gestures.
- Speaking in respectful tones and refraining from the use of vulgar or derogatory language.
- Respecting others by refraining from intimate behavior in public; abstaining from contact of a sexual nature.
- Respecting the property of others; never engaging in theft or destruction.
- Creating a safe, caring environment; never carrying illegal firearms or devices.
- Participating in programs to build a healthy spirit, mind and body; never engaging in the use, sale, dispensing or possession of illegal drugs or narcotics, or the unsanctioned use of alcohol on YMCA premises
- Adherence to the YMCA Code of Conduct and regulations is essential. Noncompliance may result in suspension or termination of Y membership privileges.
Day pass fees are $10 for individuals 15 and up, and $5 for youth 15 and younger.
DRESS & ATTIRE
We ask that Y members and guests respect others and dress appropriately at all times while in the facility. We ask that you wear only athletic shoes while in the gymnasium. All other workout areas require proper workout shirt, shorts or pants, athletic shoes and shocks. Clothing must be clean, muddy items are not premitted. Clothing with abusive language or graphics that are offensive is not allowed in the facility at anytime.
EQUIPMENT CHECK-OUT/MERCHANDISE SALES
Racquetball rackets/balls may be borrowed from the Welcome Center. Basketballs may be checked out with a Y membership card or driver's license. If you do not return equipment, you will be charged for replacement. The Welcome Center offers a variety of merchandise for sale. Please inquire at the desk for more information and pricing.
Guests must show ID while using the facility.
The Y building will be closed if a citywide weather emergency is declared, in that event, all programs, classes and building operating hours will be cancelled / closed. In the event the Clark County Schools close, every effort will be made to run classes and programs. Make-up classes will not be rescheduled due to cancellation factors out of our control, such as inclement weather. Additional announcements will be made on : WHIO- TV, WDTN, WKEF.
Y staff members are CPR, First-Aid and AED (automatic external defibrillators) trained and certified. Please see a staff member immediately if someone needs assistance.
Please take special care in locking up all personal belongings in both the locker rooms and in your vehicle. The Springfield Family YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
The Y occasionally video tapes/ photographs its members and participants in various activities. Some of these photos are used in Y marketing materials, ads or brochures. If you do not want your photo used by the Y please step out of the shot or notify the photographer before the picture is taken.
PROGRAM REFUND POLICY
If the YMCA has to cancel a program, you will receive a full refund. No refund is given unless the program is cancelled by the Y. The Y will provide you with a 100% refund for medical reasons if a doctor’s release statement is issued. Classes do not meet on holidays, and fees are adjusted.
SUSPENSION/LOSS OF MEMBERSHIP
Members and guests fighting, using foul/abusive language or other misuse of membership privileges are subject to suspension of membership privileges at the discretion of staff on duty.
If you are moving out-of-state, your membership privileges can be transferred to the local Y in your new hometown. When transferring your membership, you will be subject to the policies, procedures and membership rates of the Y to which you are transferring. All transfer request are handled at the new Y.
